In 2017, HealthProm commissioned a participatory research study examining the experiences of parents raising young children with disabilities in Ukraine.
Implemented in collaboration with the Kiev International Institute for Sociology, the study involved 238 participants. Research findings have been released in a report, Heeding the Voice of Parents, and disseminated at meetings with high-level government representatives and stakeholders.
Among the key findings are that existing services in Ukraine only partially meet the needs of children with disabilities and their families, and that significant gaps in the quality and availability of services persist.
This study is part of HealthProm's larger programme of work in Ukraine, which supports the development of the national agenda on Early Intervention for young children and their families, and strengthens the voice of parents of children with disabilities.
An Executive Summary of the research report can be found below (in English and Ukrainian), as well as the full report (in Russian).
