HealthProm recently reported its six-month update on its vital work with Afghan children in Harrow funded by the British & Foreign School Society. HealthProm’s project is collaborative and wholistic in nature -- working with the Afghan Association of London to provide additional English and Math classes to Afghan children. Beyond academics, the project has also been successful in organizing various activities for students such as art therapy, pottery-making classes and an exciting outing to a trampoline park! These activities have been warmly received by parents and families since HealthProm and the Afghan Association of London first presented the project to 20 Afghan families at an inaugural ceremony in April 2023. On the same day as the presentation, HealthProm and its partners enthusiastically enrolled 11 children in the programme.
Since the beginning of the project in April, the initiatives have facilitated meaningful education and social activities for 29 students aged 8-16 in Harrow. This initiative is part of HealthProm’s wider work to help provide additional support to Afghan families and children in the UK. Our project coordinator, Benafsha Yaqubi reflected on her role in this initiative stating, ‘The most meaningful part of helping facilitate the program activities for me has been building connections with Afghan families and their precious children. Watching these little ones enthusiastically engage in classes and outdoor adventures fills my heart with immense joy."
