We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new project which will provide educational support and social opportunities for young Ukrainian and Afghan refugees. The project is funded by the Department for Levelling Up under the Children and Young People's Resettlement Fund. HealthProm was 1 of 11 organisations selected to undertake new projects that support young migrants and refugees in the UK. Driven by our experience collaborating with Afghan and Ukrainian communities in London and abroad, we will offer educational assistance and well-being support for 200 children to help improve their transition and educational outcomes in North London and Hertfordshire.
Masood Amer will lead this exciting new project. He is the former United Nations Development Programme Assistant Country Director to Afghanistan and long-time HealthProm Project Manager. HealthProm will also work in collaboration with the Afghan Association of London to carry out the project and support young refugees.
Simon Ray, Chair of HealthProm, said “Helping young Ukrainians and Afghans cope with the challenges of starting a new life in the UK is key for them but also for the communities where they live. HealthProm welcomes Government funding for this project and the opportunity to help implement it. We can draw on our many years of experience in working with vulnerable children in countries across Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Afghanistan."
