HealthProm is excited to introduce the Islington Hub Initiative, a dedicated program tailored to older Ukrainians aged 60 and above. This initiative stands as a testament to our holistic approach in providing support and enhancing the lives of Ukrainians in the United Kingdom, regardless of age. With the Islington Hub Initiative, we're committed to creating spaces that bring older Ukrainians together and provide them with enriching experiences while addressing their specific needs.
Zinaida Onyschuk is one of HealthProm’s beneficiaries who came to the UK at 70 years-old due to the war in Ukraine. Finding a community at HealthProm through our initiatives, Zinaida wrote to us and said, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all your help! Thanks to the Open Doors Project and [Islington Hub], I can meet Ukrainians every week, speak our language, share our stories. We have yoga sessions, English-speaking club, joints gymnastics, and always tea and coffee available with lots of sweets! Last week I got a tablet from [HealthProm]; the first tablet in my life! I am really happy and thankful for all that [HealthProm] did for me!”
Our Islington Hub initiative is led by our program coordinator, Lena, who started her journey with HealthProm as a volunteer. Lena says, “Working with Ukrainian refugees makes my life full of meaning. When I get their thankful words, I understand that my job is very important, and this motivates me to do more. We have created a nice community and I hope to give more support to Ukrainians in the future.”
Over a year after the invasion of Ukraine, HealthProm has emerged as a beacon of support for Ukrainians in Islington and the surrounding boroughs. We remain dedicated to providing innovative and holistic services such as Islington Hub to unite the Ukrainian community as they make the UK home.
